Square Enix Offers FREE Trial for Shadow of the Tomb Raider

Play the First Few Levels for FREE

Square Enix‘ third installment in the Lara Croft origin series has had a rocky start. Fans were also unsurprisingly harsh with giving it a negative review, especially after low sales prompted quick discounts on the new AAA game.

Now it appears that Square Enix is trying a new strategy to win over some new players. They are offering up the first few levels of the game for free via a downloadable trial for PC.

PC demos and trials have had a resurgence over the past few years. Especially with many game companies incorporating it once again as promos.

Bethesda in particular does this with most of their games like Doom, The Evil Within or Wolfenstein. IO Interactive also offers up the training levels for their new Hitman 2 game completely for free. This allows players to not only get a feel for the game’s mechanics, but also see whether their PC can handle the graphics.

Is This Free Trial Available for Consoles?

Yes. It is not just limited to PC users, but Microsoft Xbox and Sony PlayStation 4 users can also download and play the trial version of the game.

Whatever players unlock while playing the trial version carries over to the full game if they purchase it. That includes trophies and achievements.
