Nobody likes game delays, especially for games you’ve been eager to play or already waiting a long time for. However, it’s with a sad face that I inform you that Square Enix has put the breaks on their upcoming release Forspoken. Their action RPG is almost done though, and Square Enix has said they want to give its dev team enough time to further polish the game. I mean, I can’t argue with that, I’d rather have a quality product, but five months is a pretty hefty delay by measure. As such, you won’t be playing the game until October 11th, 2022.
Playing as Frey Holland, a young woman who much use her magical abilities to survive, Forspoken looks and sounds fantastic. Plus, as usual, the Luminous Engine delivers the goods and what we’ve seen of the game so far looks visually stunning. It’ll not be coming out on last-gen consoles, and only hitting PC and PlayStation 5 at launch. It’ll also use plenty of new technologies, such as DirectStorage on PC. Square Enix has said they’ll reveal more about this in the near future.
Check out the official statement from the team below.
“Forspoken follows the journey of Frey, a young New Yorker transported to the beautiful and cruel land of Athia. In search of a way home, Frey must use her newfound magical abilities to traverse sprawling landscapes and battle monstrous creatures.” – Square Enix
