Fans of STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl can now look forward to mod support on Xbox, a feature long awaited by the community. In a recent interview with Radio Times, Yevhenii Kulyk, the game’s technical producer, confirmed that the upcoming open-world survival game will extend mod capabilities to Xbox users, with mod support also planned for other consoles.
This announcement aligns with STALKER’s history, where mods have always been integral to enhancing gameplay. For now, there’s no confirmed launch date for mod support, but it’s exciting news for console players who want to tweak and add new content to their gaming experience.
According to Kulyk, players can expect an official toolkit, letting modders create and share mods of varying complexity, ranging from small tweaks to expansive changes. Kulyk stated, “We know that our user base, especially traditional players, expects our game to support mods,” and he reassured fans by adding, “we will bring mods to consoles as well.” The mods will be available on both Xbox and PC platforms, with Kulyk hinting that the toolkit could eventually support PS5 when STALKER 2 launches on Sony’s console.
The modding experience is likely to mirror a curated mod system, similar to those in Skyrim and Starfield. This format would give players a catalog of approved mods within the game itself.
While the mods may launch post-release, GSC GameWorld appears committed to providing a streamlined way for console players to enjoy the same creative freedom PC users have long enjoyed.
