Star Citizen Bans Over 600 Accounts for Exploits

Cloud Imperium Games, the developer of Star Citizen, has banned over 600 accounts for using multiple exploits to cheat and manipulate the game. This action follows an extensive investigation.

Account Bans and Exploit Removal

Will Soulcrusher Leverett, the senior director of player relations, announced that the team has completed its investigation. As a result, they suspended over 600 accounts and removed the illicitly gained aUEC from the game.

“We’ve resolved multiple aUEC exploits in version 3.23.1a and identified over 600 accounts involved in exploitative behaviors,” said Leverett. He emphasized the seriousness of cheating and its negative impact on the game’s integrity and economy.

Commitment to Fair Play

Leverett assured the community that Cloud Imperium Games is continuously developing measures to combat cheating and exploitation. The team prioritizes fixing exploits and works closely with players to identify and report issues.

“We’re grateful for your reports and support. Continued abuse of exploits will not be tolerated and will result in action,” Leverett added. The developers promise to keep updating the community on their efforts to ensure fair play.

Chris Roberts, CEO of Cloud Imperium Games, mentioned that Star Citizen is nearing its 1.0 release. Despite the challenges, including recent layoffs, the game has raised over $700 million in crowdfunding.

The company remains focused on delivering a connected, shared universe for players, aiming to meet the expectations set by its dedicated backers.
