Cloud Imperium, the company behind the incredibly anticipated Star Citizen space sim, has decided to give us yet another taste of what they’ve been working on so far. The developers have recently launched a new Free Fly event, which means that Star Citizen is free-to-play and available to everyone until March 20. The previous Free Fly event took place about a month ago, and it gave us the opportunity to test the 2.1.2 Alpha build, otherwise known as Crusader. This time around, we’re going to be able to fly every currently flyable ship in the game, which should definitely prove interesting.
Apart from the Star Citizen Alpha 2.2.2 build, gamers will also gain access to the Social Module and the Arena Commander. The game is expected to be released this year, although we don’t have an exact date yet. With the help of these Free Fly events, Cloud Imperium is giving gamers the opportunity to test out Star Citizen and find out what to expect from the final version. Below you will find detailed information regarding the event and what it includes.
- Star Citizen Alpha 2.2.2 – Also known as Crusader or the “mini-PU,” this is the nucleus of the world we’re building! Featuring multiple space stations and environments, scripted missions, places to explore and more, Alpha 2.2.2 is your first look at a much larger universe!
- Arena Commander – Arena Commander is a ‘game within a game’ that we’ve used to develop our flight mechanics and ship combat balance. Take on human opponents or an AI swarm in single seat fighter.
- Social Module – Interact with other players while you explore our first landing zone, ArcCorp! The Social Module is intended as a starting point for our world building.
