Star Trek: Bridge Crew Delayed Once Again Until May 30

Ubisoft’s Star Trek: Bridge Crew has unfortunately been delayed for launch until May 30th, 2017. The VR title was originally intended for a November 2016 launch but was postponed for March 14, 2017, and then pushed back to three more months later. The game allows up to four players in the role of Starfleet crew members aboard the U.S.S. Aegis and experience what it is like to be part of the navigation crew in first person perspective via VR. As a multiplayer co-op game, players can select one specific role on the bridge including captain, helm, tactical or engineer as an uncharted region in space called the Trench is being explored virtually.

Despite the delay, developer Red Storm Entertainment wants fans to know that it is with good reason because they are also adding the original series Enterprise bridge as a playable option in the game.

Star Trek: Bridge Crew Delayed Once Again Until May 30

We felt it was important to include a part of classic Star Trek with this game, especially during Star Trek’s 50th anniversary, the original USS Enterprise is such an iconic part of the franchise—It’s the ship that started it all. The adventures and relationships that took place on the ship are a special part of Star Trek history, so we were determined to give players the opportunity to create their own adventures and stories on this classic ship.” according to Red Storm Entertainment senior creative director David Votypka.

The Steam page for Star Trek: Bridge Crew lists the minimum system requirements as needing an AMD FX-8350 or Intel i5-4590 processor with 4GB of system memory and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon R9 290 graphics card. Official virtual reality support only currently lists HTC Vive at the moment, but Oculus Rift and Playstation VR support has also been added for the May launch.
