Star Wars: Battlefront II First Official Details Revealed

We already told you that Star Wars: Battlefront II is scheduled for a release on November 17 this year, and now we’re happy to report some brand new official details regarding this upcoming title. One of the most important aspects of the game is the single player campaign that will allow gamers to experience the conflict through the eyes of an Imperial elite special forces soldier. Furthermore, the game will include space fights, during which players will be given the opportunity to control a First Order TIE fighter, while ground combat will include renowned characters such as Yoda and Darth Maul. The Executive Producer over at Criterion, Matt Webster, issued the following statement:

“In Star Wars Battlefront II, we all wanted to really capture the essence of being heroic and how in Star Wars, anyone can become a hero. Whether that’s playing as an iconic character like Rey or Luke, as a front-line trooper or fighter pilot in epic multiplayer battles, or playing through a new Star Wars story that bridges the gap between Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, you will become a hero in Star Wars Battlefront II.”

The single-player campaign will take place between the destruction of the second Death Star and the rise of the First Order, and it will focus on Iden Versio, who is the leader of an elite special forces unit named Inferno Squad. Apparently, Luke Skywalker and Kylo Ren will also be featured in the game.

Douglas Reilly, Senior Director, Digital & Franchise Management stated the following:

“EA has assembled an incredible set of developers to create a Star Wars gaming experience unlike anything fans have ever experienced. Star Wars Battlefront II will offer everything players loved about the last installment and adds new modes that we know the fans want, including an entirely new story developed in partnership with Lucasfilm.”

In turn, the Game Director over at Motive Studios, Mark Thompson, also had a few words to say:

“We wanted to create a campaign that told a story we haven’t seen before in Star Wars. It was important for us to tell a new authentic story, one that gives players a brand-new perspective. By putting players in the boots of an elite member of the Imperial forces, we can show them what the battle was like from the other side.”

Brand new areas such as Starkiller Base, the jungles of Yavin 4 and the spaceport town of Mos Eisley will be playable locations, and the game will also feature modes supporting up to 40 players. Are you looking forward to the next installment in the Battlefront series?
