Despite everyones worst thoughts, since Disney acquired the rights to Star Wars, so far things have gone well. The most recent film in the series, The Last Jedi, was received well as have the other recent films.
In what will be a first for the franchise, however, Star Wars The Last Jedi will soon be available for home purchase (that’s not a first) and this will include a 4k Blu-Ray release (this is).
It might be surprising, but even the most recent Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story while both getting blu-ray releases (as have the entire film series now), none have so far been released in 4k Ultra HD.
The release, as can be seen below, will also include a plethora of features. Not least of which includes a 4k disc, Blu-ray, and digital download.
As can be expected as well, the release will contain masses of bonus features, including, but not limited to; a feature documentary, deleted scenes, interviews and all other manner of Star Wars goodies.
The release will also include support for Dolby Atmos audio and also high dynamic range (HDR) color via Dolby Vision.
The report via Polygon suggests that a digital version will be available around mid-March (possibly the 13th). A physical official release will be on March 27th which will include a DVD, blu-ray and the 4K Ultra HD version.
There is a trailer for the release below, however, I am informed that there are a few semi-spoilers, so you might want to keep your distance if you haven’t seen it yet.
