Star Wars: The Old Republic beta weekend indicates great success with excessive number of queues

This past weekend has seen some nice events, one of which was the beta weekend for the upcoming Star Wars: The Old Republic.

As reported over a week ago, beta keys were handed to quite a large amount of people, and that was mainly due to the fact that Bioware wanted to stress-test their servers.

Even though the continuous effort from Bioware to add new servers which resulted in 51 North American-based servers and 37 European-based servers, the fan base was certainly happy, or at least the ones that got in.

Even though the large amount of servers, the game still managed to have quite a large amount of queues, some of which having over 1,000 gamers waiting eagerly to have a go at the game, although it doesn’t stop there as some Twitter posts indicate an even higher number.

While the beta was free, nothing is ever entirely free, and it was the bandwidth that had to pay the price. With the beta client weighing over 20GB, bandwidth restricted player were really turned off this.

Although this was a beta, as announced, and it was free, so there were bound to be limitations, but so far so good, the stress-test seems to have been successful for Bioware. Now the big franchise of the MMORPG like Word of Warcraft should hang on to their seats, as this new player means business and has a large fan base supporting it.
