I really do feel like banging my head against a wall when it comes to gaming. I get that they’re doing a deal with AMD to promote the game. However, when you hear whispers from developers that DLSS was not only in the game early on, but was later taken out, you have to get pretty annoyed. It’s one thing to promote a brand but to do it at the cost of quality to, frankly, the majority of GPU owners who picked the green team seems maddening to me.
Modders have already taken the time to put DLSS 3 into the game, and I’ve tested it, and it works great on my 144Hz 3440 x 1440 monitor, with the image already looking sharper than native, clearing up that soft look that has plagued the game. Not only did my RTX 4090 go from 100 FPS, but it now sits at 170 FPS and even shed about 5% from the GPU usage… a win-win as far as I can see it!
However, now it looks like Bethesda will indeed put this feature back in the game. They’ve said as much, but don’t expect it in the first patch, which will likely deal with critical issues first.
While they’re at it, they’re bringing in an FOV slider too. This one really boils my blood, as I’m a 21:9 monitor user, and there are 32:9 users left in the cold too. Bethesda has a long history of not putting the FOV slider in the menu, despite the engine fully supporting such adjustments via the command console or by editing an .ini file, the same is true in Starfield.
Those suffering from HDR issues will also be glad to hear an HDR calibration tool is coming for the game too.
What else is missing? Let us know in the comments! Bethesda said to keep the feedback coming, they’ve been listening, and supporting this game for years, so, let’s do just that.
