On a regular basis, Valve hosts sales events which allow Steam users to acquire a whole host of exciting titles at heavily discounted prices. These promotions are an important aspect of the platform’s success and helped developers to enjoy a long-term revenue stream well beyond the initial release date. In recent years, the discounts haven’t been overly generous and the advent of third-party resellers like CDKeys brings into question Valve’s current pricing strategy. Nevertheless, discounts are always welcome and there’s still some concern regarding the sources of keys on other websites. Despite there being quite a lot of anticipation surrounding every Steam sale, the dates are leaked quite often from credible sources. Interestingly, the Autumn and Winter sale dates have been unveiled by the Twitter user RobotBrush, who creates visual effects for the AngryJoeShow as well as posting updates about the latest game pages:
As you can see, the Autumn Sale 2016 runs from November 23rd at 9.50am Pacific to November 29th 10.10am Pacific. The Winter Sale 2016 begins on December 22nd 9.50am Pacific and lasts until January 2nd, 2017 at 10.10am Pacific. This information is handy and allows us all to prepare for the upcoming events. I’m certainly looking forward to spending some Christmas money on new games or classics at discounted prices.
