Steam February Hardware Survey Features NVIDIA 40 Series But No Luck For AMD

Steam has released its monthly hardware survey which is a great way of seeing what components are most popular for gamers the majority of which will likely be using steam.
NVIDIA Still Dominating
In the hardware survey, the key takeaway is that NVIDIA is still the dominant choice for graphics cards with all the top 10 cards being NVIDIA cards with the first AMD GPU, ignoring integrated Radeon graphics which came 14th, comes in 25th with the RX 580 at a 1.10% share. Now what about the latest offerings from the two, how do the RTX 40 series, which has been scrutinised for its pricing and the AMD Radeon 7000 series which has been praised for its pricing, fare in this survey?
To start it’s good news for team green as all 3 of the currently released desktop 40 series GPUs, the 4090, 4080 and 4070ti are on the list though with only a 0.31%, 0.20% and 0.18% share respectively. This share doesn’t even add up to 1% but it’s better than AMD’s 7000 series which of the 7900XT and XTX do not appear on the list at all. As expected Intel’s ARC GPUs also don’t make an appearance but the day they do should be a good one.
Mid-Range and Low-end GPUs Still at The Top
The most popular GPUs are those that are affordable and for a long time, the GTX 1060 has held that spot, until October last year when the GTX 1650 managed to overtake it and still in February is holding the throne as the most popular GPU with a 6.12% share. The highest-end GPU in the top 10 is the RTX 3070 coming in 8th place with a 2.91% share.
