Paypal UK confirms in a tweet that the Steam Sale does indeed begin on June 22. The date matches the leaked information that surfaced on Reddit several months ago. Using the hashtag #SteamSummerSale, Paypal UK also confirmed the specific time of the sale starting at 6PM BST. In the US, this translates to 1PM EDT.
What does Paypal UK have to do with the Steam Summer Sale?

Paypal UK is making the announcement for Steam due to the fact that they are currently offering a promotion for the event. Customers can get an extra £5 off on top of the existing, already heavily discounted prices. There is a stipulation of having to spend at least £20 first however. Naturally, paying via PayPal is also required to claim the discount. This offer expires on July 4th, which is also the end date for the Steam Summer Sale last year.
Knowing the time for the sale is important as some offers are limited quantity runs or time limited. For many users who don’t normally spend a lot on Steam or buy games during flash sales, the Steam Summer sale is almost a holiday. As a handy guide, especially for fresh new PC gamers, /r/GameDeals on Reddit usually gives an easy to see overview of the games available during the event. This not only includes most of the games highlighted to have the best value, but also the hidden gems that many can overlook.
