I have to admit that while the Simpsons ‘Steamed Hams’ meme was certainly a popular craze for a while, given that I hadn’t seen it mentioned for a while, I had presumed that the internet’s interest in it had mostly died out. – How wrong was I though? Not only is ‘Steamed Hams’ back (and no, not in Pog form), but someone has gone to the effort of making a full-blown gaming experience out of it which you can download and play right now!
Now admittedly, calling this is a game is something of a stretch. It’s actually more akin to a graphical novel. Being created in the style of a classic Lucasarts title, however, the effort that has gone into this is exceptionally impressive. Not only does it follow the story of Skinner ruining his ham in the process of attempting to impress Super Intendant Chalmers (and the decisions he makes to try and salvage the situation), but it replicates the retro point-and-click gaming experience exceptionally well! – This includes:
Available to download and play right now, if you want to check out ‘Steamed Hams’ click on the link here! – If you’re familiar with the clip, a playthrough shouldn’t take you any more than 5 minutes. Seeing this in action though only makes me wish that this segment was a full-blown episode and not just a short subject! – Still, for the team at ‘@neodement‘ you have officially won the internet today for me!
Oh, and if you want another Simpsons gaming meme to try out, there’s always Lee Carvallo’s Putting Challenge! (Yes, I’m being serious!)
And yes, the picture below is Pete playing it on his arcade setup!) [that’s a secret project, well, it was! but I’ll allow it 😉 – Pete]
