SteelSeries Arctis 1 Wireless Headset Review

How Much Does it Cost?
The SteelSeries Arctis 1 Wireless is available right now from most major retailers. It’s on Amazon for £99.99 in the UK and Amazon US for just $99.99. That’s not exactly cheap, but it’s about right for the level of features. It’s about the same price as the Corsair HS70, Logitech G Pro X, Corsair VOID Pro, etc. However, it is about twice the price of the wired version, but given the USB Type-C features, lag-free dongle, etc, the cost difference isn’t wholly unexpected.
Overview
I rather like this headset, but then again, it would be awkward if I didn’t. I feel like I’ve already reviewed it a couple of times. That’s not a bad thing from any perspective though. The last few headsets from SteelSeries looked fantastic and performed even better than that. We have the same drivers from one of the best selling headsets, and they sound superb. You have a design that has many of the traits of their flagship Arctis Pro. So you get the look, you get the sound, and that’s fine with me. If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it… or at least don’t change it too much.
So What’s New?
Well, the wireless technology isn’t really new, as SteelSeries already had that on other models. However, it’s more this combination of microphone, drivers, design and wireless didn’t exist. Now it does, obviously. This means the Arctis 1 is that mythical one headset to rule them all that I mentioned earlier. Being able to use them as headphones on your phone while you’re out and about. Get home, game on your Nintendo Switch wirelessly, then your Xbox, then play on your PC. All this with a single headset. No switching headsets all day, it can really go everywhere with you. Of course, with the long battery life, that’s easily done.
Should I Buy One?
Are you the hip and cool gamer that has loads of consoles and a kick-ass gaming PC? I know I am (not-so-humble-brag). Then this is the headset for you. It ticks all the right boxes comes packed with features, and it’s easily one of the most simple to set up multi-format headsets out there. Grab it, get gaming, and keep on gaming. I love it.
