Steelseries Mobile Gaming & Headphone Review

Finally I have a set of SteelSeries Flux In-Ear Headphones, a new product from SteelSeries and for me it was the product I had the most interest in. Priced at around $59.99 these aren’t the cheapest headphones on the market but SteelSeries were confident they would be some of the best, at least in this price range. They feature 6mm drivers than can be fitted very snug in your ear, this is thanks to their elongated shape and it allows you to obtain a good level of suction on your ear.

I’ve been using these headphones since CES and most importantly I used them extensively on the flight from Las Vegas to London. It’s a long flight and I needed a pair of headphones that would work for the in-flight entertainment system, my laptop, my tablet, my phone and my iPod. I’m a musician and a big music listener so I love a good quality set of headphones.

The Flux were exactly what I needed too and there is good reason for me using them ever since I got them, they sound fantastic! while I have heard better headphones, it’s hard to think of any in-ear headphones that are up to this level of quality for this price range. I listen to a lot of Jazz, Death Metal, Progressive Rock and all kinds of other nonsense and when it comes to in-ear headphones it can be hard to find drivers that are distortion free in their audio reproduction at all volumes.

The inclusion of an in-line microphone and a single control button are more than welcome, not features I would generally use my self but they do add to the overall value for money. The Flux are not perfect, but like I said, I’d be hard pushed to think of any that are better when it comes to in ear and while I could think of some that are better, I for one couldn’t afford the £150+ they would likely cost.

So it's no wonder I write about tech and test the latest hardware while I enjoy my hobbies!
