Final Thoughts
Price
The SteelSeries Rival 310 Optical Gaming Mouse is available from most of the big name retailers already. Of course, you can also order it directly from SteelSeries. Currently, the mouse is a very reasonable £59.99, and we think that’s fantastic value for money. Given the features on offer and the performance, you’re going to struggle to find anything better for less.
Overview
SteelSeries set out to make what is already regarded as some of the best mice on the market even better. Of course, that’s no easy task, yet they’ve managed it regardless. From the surface, the mouse doesn’t look much different from the old models, and you would be forgiven for thinking it was the same mouse.
Personally, I like the similar design, as it’s going to appeal to those who’ve been long time fans of the Rival series. You want something that feels familiar when you’re gaming and you’ll get that here. Of course, you still need a reason to upgrade, and that TrueMove3 sensor is a good enough reason for me. Created exclusively for SteelSeries it’s clear it was a good investment. The tracking delivers true 1 to 1 performance. SteelSeries says it’s the “World’s first true 1 to 1 eSports sensor” which sounds a bit ambitious, but it still doesn’t detract from the flawless performance.
Strong and Light Design
The build quality is rock solid on this mouse. Obviously, the sensor and the OMROM switches are great quality themselves. However, the chassis of the mouse feels light and strong. The cable is nice and durable, and the rubber grips feel like they’ll last a long time before wearing out. This is a mouse built for those extensive gaming sessions.
Equipped with the latest ARM CPU, the mouse can deliver ultra-low latency performance. I love the desktop software, as you can tweak all your profiles, DPI settings, RGB lighting, macros and more. Of course, you can’t take software into an eSports tournament, so you can save all this directly to the mouse for use on the go.
Overall, it’s nothing crazy in terms of features. It does tick all the right boxes without becoming unfocused, and we certainly can’t argue with the flawless sensor performance. Highly recommended to anyone who takes their gaming seriously.
