SteelSeries StarCraft II Mouse Mat Limited Edition Marine Version Review

A Closer Look
Once the mouse mat has been removed from its packaging, we can see it in all of its glory. The front of the mouse mat is very impressive; the quality of the design on the front is incredible. It is certainly very striking. The mouse mat pictures at least four StarCraft II Marines which do look very large from this perspective especially the size of their guns (You didn’t think I could get that into a review now did you…). On a more serious note however, there is a huge, nearly atom bomb shaped cloud protruding in the distance. One can only imagine the devastation being caused in this scene, which is in ways realistic inside the game and should be popular with the StarCraft fans.
In the bottom centre of the mouse mat is the huge StarCraft II Wings of Liberty logo, which is placed nicely so it doesn’t obscure the scene. Of course we also have the SteelSeries logo as well as a licensed by Blizzard entertainment’ logo. There is also a copyright statement at the bottom of the mouse mat.
Moving to the material itself, it is made up of a high-quality cloth which aims to give a precise and consistent glide to any mouse used with it. It is relatively glossy which gives a very nice finish.
On the back of the mouse mat, we find a dark rubbery base. The back is quite heavily grained to give a high amount of friction to stop the mouse mat sliding across your desk. This is also surprisingly shiny.
The above shows a close-up of the rear material.
