Packaging
The box is made out of a thin cardboard which has plenty of strength, this has become very much the standard from SteelSeries.
From the front it shows us that the Xai laser mouse is a member of the Pro Gaming range, and that it is full of features. These include, from the left hand side of the box, Ambidextrous Shape, Pro-Play Performance, Best-In-Class Technology, High-Defintion Sensor, Set-up via LCD-display, Gamer Profiles and Advanced Macros. That sounds like a lot to be crammed into one mouse!
The front of the box also leaves a nice mouse sized whole so that you can see the mouse below, which is covered by a vacuum formed plastic allowing you to test and feel the shape of the mouse. This also allows you to see the size and dimensions and the general button layout. Also useful if you are a left-handed gamer and wanting to check this is Ambidextrous!

From the back it looks identical to the standard SteelSeries range, with only the images changed for the Xai. In more detail however, on the left-hand side, you can see the blurb about the mouse with the brilliant opening phrase, SteelSeries Xai is a tool not a gadget.’ Which leads me to think, is it not only for Christmas? Of course, as is typical with SteelSeries the back of the box has the blurb and features in most of the main languages.

The sides of the box are a very similar story, with the features in another 6 languages between the two sides.
The top of the box shows the associations with SteelSeries, SK Gaming, Fnatic Team, Evil Geniuses and Tyloo. All of these have had some input into the design and features of this mouse and all of SteelSeries’ range.
On the bottom of the box is the usual certifications including compatible with Windows 7′, just to reassure people it will work with the latest version of Windows. Although, I’d be quite surprised if a gamer was still using Windows XP but never the less they still keep the logo there.
