Steve Ballmer And Stephen Elop Address Open Letter To Windows Phone Fans

With Microsoft recently buying out Nokia’s mobile handset division for around $7 billion, both the Microsoft CEO and Nokia CEO have addressed Windows Phone fans with an open letter. Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft, and Stephen Elop, CEO of Nokia, said the following to Windows Phone fans.

“Nokia and Microsoft have always dreamed big – we dreamed of putting a computer on every desk, and a mobile phone in every pocket, and we’ve come a long way toward realizing those dreams.

Today marks a moment of reinvention.

From humble beginnings as a paper mill, to manufacturing rubber boots and car tires, and then to mobile phones, reinvention is in Nokia’s blood.

Now Nokia will write its next chapter, focused on enabling mobility through its leadership in networking, mapping & location, and advanced technologies.

Of course with the deal between Nokia and Microsoft complete we can expect Microsoft to more or less exclusively managed Nokia’s mobile handset portfolio, including patents, for the next 10 years with the option to renew the deal after that 10 year period is up.
