Xbox One users have been reporting in their thousands, a random message popping up on the console. The message talks about a My Little Pony episode under a “Mock Error Title” pop up.
The pop-up states the following:
‘Mock Error Title
‘This would be some long description about the error. Read it and weep! And if you haven’t looked up this phrase on the internet, please do! You will find a My Little Pony episode called ‘Read it and Weep’. Cloudchasers and Wonderbolts, you’ll never be forgotten!’
The error message has caused plenty of controversy and concern. However, a majority of users have found the funny side of it all. Speculations are currently that it could be a hacking attempt, a virus or just a simple user error on Microsoft’s side with a note from a worker with a sense of humour.
Users took to social media and contacted the Xbox corporate Vice President Mike Ybarra on twitter, who then looked into the concern. On the 19th July, Ybarra posted a status confirming the error would be corrected shortly with a fix going in tonight. He confirmed that it was, in fact a test string that simply should not have shown up. The message was clearly only been intended for internal use.
If you have experienced this pop up, please ignore it and do not be concerned. It was a mistake that slipped through the system. However, that begs the question on everybody’s mind; Which Xbox worker really enjoys My Little Pony!
