Streacom launched their F12C chassis almost two years ago now as its minimalistic and sleek aluminium body has been welcomed in many home-theater PC setups since then. It measures 420 x 320 x 184mm and offers plenty of room internally to house a standard ATX motherboard hardware and users can even mount water-cooling radiators thanks to adjustable rails inside. Since it is popular as a home-theater PC unit, many have been asking if more connectivity options could be added to it such as USB and optical drive bays. Streacom has responded with the release of the new F12C Optical model that adds USB 3.0 ports and a slim optical drive in front.
The Streacom F12C optical maintains the minimalist look without the bulk of a regular 5.25″ external drive by offering a slim, slot-loading optical drive support instead. A pair of USB 3.0 ports have been added at the bottom centre and it does not take too much away from the clean front look. The body is still made of high quality 4mm thick aluminium, CNC processed and anodised finish. The open internal structure and flexible design allows for oversized power supplies, 310mm long graphics cards, and 140mm + 2x 120mm water cooling installation. Two colour SKUs are available: black ST-F12CB-OPT and silver ST-F12CS-OPT.
