Capcom has announced that Street Fighter 6 has reached a major milestone, selling over four million copies globally. This news comes just 15 months after the game’s launch in June 2023. The popular fighting game has been steadily building its player base and recently surpassed 3.7 million copies sold by June 30, 2024. Now, the game has hit the impressive four million mark, putting it in competition with other major fighting games like Mortal Kombat.
Capcom’s Confidence in the Game’s Growth
Capcom believes that Street Fighter 6 is well on track to surpass the lifetime sales of Street Fighter 5, which reached 7.6 million units. Capcom’s goal is to see Street Fighter 6 surpass 10 million sales, with continued support in the form of downloadable content (DLC). The latest character addition, Terry Bogard, is set to join the game on September 24, 2024, alongside other characters like M.Bison, Akuma, and Rashid.
In addition to adding new characters, Street Fighter 6 introduces more accessible controls, such as Modern Controls, aimed at making the game easier for casual players. However, this comes with a trade-off in damage output. With more content updates on the horizon, Capcom continues to support Street Fighter 6’s long-term growth.
