For many, the Stronghold series provided an excellent alternative to when Command & Conquer went on it’s extended (and continued) hiatus. The series has largely been an excellent success for developer Firefly studios and in recent years we have seen remastered versions of previous titles. Of all of the titles, Stronghold 2 is considered by many to be one of the best. It’s therefore good news for fans as Stronghold 2: Steam Edition has been released!
Therefore, if the updated free version of C&C Red Alert isn’t doing it for you anymore, this classic might!
Stronghold 2: Steam Edition is a complete remaster of the original title. It does, of course, have some updated features. One of the major factors to fans of the series sees a reinstatement, updated and larger scale version of the multiplayer game. With this including new maps, how could you possibly say no?
I have always been a massive fan of the Stronghold series, however, it mostly stems from a previous title is was a semi-spiritual successor to. Lord of the Rings was the original castle building RTS title. Sure, it was limited, but it was great fun. Sadly that series has now died, but fortunately, Stronghold came to the rescue.
With a sandbox style castle building strategy title, this game appeals to both base builders and those who like accruing mass armies. It is of course, nowhere near as impressive as Total War: Warhammer, however, many will consider it’s simplicity far more attractive.
The Stronghold 2: Steam Edition includes the following updates to the original:
The game can be bought via the Steam page and if you act quickly, it is currently on sale! For those who already own the ‘Stronghold Collection,’ this title will be available for you for free!
Stronghold 2: Steam Edition is available to buy now and at a little over £12, how can you refuse? Time to grab your mace and get swinging!
