Avast, ye mateys! A new pirate-themed massive multiplayer online game is on the horizon. It is called ‘ATLAS’ and it is from Grapeshot Games, a sister team of Studio Wildcard. Most will be familiar with them as the developers of ARK: Survival Evolved.
Pirates can decide whether to be a small-time raider or be ambitious enough to build an empire. Players will have plenty of control over various aspects of their career. They can build a dinghy rowboat, basic raft, tiny sloop or a nimble schooner. Furthermore, they can eventually move up to a versatile brigantine or titanic galleon.
Explorers will voyage to over 700 unique landmasses across 45,000 square kilometers. Moreover, there are thousands of Discovery Zones, and ten distinct world regions. Each will have their own unique resources, creatures, secrets, and environment hazards. There is also certainly a lot to do beyond just simply sailing.
What Game Engine is ATLAS Using?
The game is running on the Unreal Engine and will launch with NVIDIA RTX enhancements. Watch it in action from the reveal trailer below:
Does This Game Have a Single-Player Mode?
Although ATLAS is primarily an MMO game, there will also be a separate PvE server. This will allow players to develop their pirate without the pressure of competing against human players.
When is ATLAS Coming Out?
ATLAS sets sail six days from today on December 13th via Steam Early Access.
