If one thing has become certain over the last few weeks, it’s that the Epic Games Store is taking its remit as a game publisher very seriously. We have seen the company not only offer a much more attractive commission rate than Steam, but they have also managed to get many upcoming released to drop Steam in favour of them and even for pretty long exclusivity periods.
I’m just going to come out and say it, any PC gamer is probably going to have the Epic Game Store application installed before the end of the year. Why? Well, as part of their growing promotional campaign, Subnautica is currently available for free! All you need is the Epic Games Store client!
Think of Subnautica being like a version of No Mans Sky, but set in the Ocean. Yes, I know that’s not a very attractive analogy, but in terms of visuals and exploration, this game garnered a lot of impressive reviews and (like No Mans Sky) has come a long way the release of subsequent patches and updates.
In terms of a game, it’s well worth trying out and how can you argue when it’s free?
This does appear to be just the first of many free games intended to be offered on the platform. In fairness, it’s a fantastic move by the company. Nothing, after all, garners attention like giving things away for free!
With the promotion set to run until the 27th of December, you have plenty of time to grab your free copy and, in truth, it’s hard to argue why any PC owner shouldn’t!
To grab your copy (assuming you don’t have Epic Games installed) you can visit their website in the link here!
