Power Supply Unit
The whole top of the Super Flower Golden Silent is a heatsink which draws heat away from the internal components through thermal pads and vertical heatsinks. Eight screws hold this top heatsink in place to ensure the contact between it and the thermal pads is as efficient as possible.
Both sides of the PSU have open ventilation to help with heat dissipation.
The bottom has the label with the certifications, amp, watts and rail specifications on. We can also get a clearer look at the textured black finish which the whole power supply uses.
Super Flower’s Golden Silent 500W PSU is interesting because it makes use of these universal proprietary connectors. The basic idea behind them is you can plug any modular cable into them and they just work: irrespective of whether they are PCIe, SATA, molex and so on. From here we can also see the hard-wired cables and the heatsink design of the top.
The back has more ventilation, a kettle lead input and a power switch.
Cabling
Hard-wired to the unit is the motherboard 24 pin, a daisy chained set of two 6+2 pin PCIe connectors and the CPU 4+4 pin. All the cables have fairly low quality sleeving and use multi-coloured cables and connectors which will put a few people off.
Modular cables include two more PCIe connectors, again they are daisy chained, two molex and two SATA, four SATA, and three molex with one FDD.
