Conclusion

Having never worked with a Super Flower product before this review was certainly very interesting for me. I’ve only ever heard good things about Super Flower power supplies and on this performance I think it is easy to see why. The Super Flower Golden Silent 500W performs excellent across the board and offers up top notch efficiency, good PFC and total silence as well as excellent ripple suppression and strong voltage regulation on all the major rails. Best of all it comes in at a price of just £90, similar wattage passive power supplies from other brands start at £100. I also think the universal modular connector is a novel idea, although I would have liked to have seen a fully modular unit, even if it meant a slightly more expensive retail price. The final point worth noting is that while most passive power supplies use a well ventilated chassis for cooling, this makes use of ventilation and a heatsink built into the power supply chassis – a very smart and innovative idea. All these innovative ideas culminate in the 5 year warranty that Super Flower offer which shows you that they stand behind the quality of the product, and it is easy to see that when they are so transparent that they detail the internal components used on the product’s packaging.
