After nearly a Decade of Planning Super Nintendo World is officially open at Universal Studios in Hollywood containing a multitude of activities all inspired by Nintendo franchises.
The opening event for Super Nintendo World was attended by Nintendo Game Director Shigeru Miyamoto and General Manager Shinya Takahashi who shared various pictures of their time there on Nintendo’s social media.
The Park features activities themed around the Mario Franchise including
Wrist Bands: Visitors can purchase themselves ‘power-up bands’ for $40 to allow them to play mini-games to unlock digital coins which contribute to their points as well as the team of whatever band colour they chose. The band’s colours are based on the 6 major characters from Super Mario Bros; Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Toad and Daisy. By completing these mini-games visitors can collect 3 golden keys stolen by Bowser Jr to gain access to a final boss battle with him in the form of a special mini-game.
Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge: an AR experience pitting Team Mario Against Team Bowser allowing users to navigate a race course with steering wheels and shoot shells at the rival racers.
Toadstool Cafe: The signature restaurant of the park inspired by Toad.
1-UP Factory: Of course, a theme park isn’t complete without a gift shop selling various Nintendo-themed merchandise.
This isn’t the first or last Super Nintendo World as the first was opened in Japan back in March 2021 and the company has plans for more at Universal Studios sites in Florida and Singapore in 2025.
