Warner Bros. isn’t even bothering to hide Henry Cavill’s appearance as Superman in the forthcoming Justice League movie. One element of Cavill that will have to be obscured, though, is his freshly-grown facial hair.
Justice League is currently undergoing $25 million-worth of reshoots, over two months. Overseeing production is The Avengers director Joss Whedon, who took over from original helmer Zack Snyder following a family tragedy. The entire cast – including Ben Affleck, Gal Godot, and the aforementioned Cavill – is returning for additional photography.
Cavill, though, is also shooting the latest Mission: Impossible film, for which he is now sporting a fully grown moustache. Since Superman doesn’t suit a ‘tache, you’d think the actor playing him would just shave his upper lip. However, Mission: Impossible studio Paramount won’t let him. Instead, Warner Bros. will digitally remove the offending soup strainer.
Could be worse. At least Cavill doesn’t have a mullet:
Variety reports:
“Cavill’s issues are […] thorny. “Justice League’s” Man of Steel had expected to be able to finish shooting the sixth “Mission: Impossible” film before needing to don Superman’s spandex again. That has not been the case, however, as the new scenes that are being shot have required him to jump back and forth from each production. Because of this, a mustache he grew for his character in the “Mission: Impossible” sequel will have to be digitally removed in post-production. Paramount, which is distributing the “Mission: Impossible” sequel, would not allow Cavill to shave the facial hair while production was taking place.”
Justice League hits cinemas in the UK and US on 17th November 2017.
