Final Thoughts
What about the Costs?
If you’ve read my previous LGA3647 cooler reviews, you know these come at a price. Well, not this time. Supermicro’s SNK-P0070APS4 Purley Platform CPU heatsink can be yours for just £61.33 or $58.99. That’s a bargain for such an effective cooling solution.
Overview
The results speak for themselves in two aspects. Supermicro’s SNK-P0070APS4 active 4U CPU heatsink delivers what it promises. It will keep your Xeon Scalable Platform processors cool at all times. It is a little louder than some of the other coolers we’ve tested, but that’s not always so relevant. At least not in this category of products. In the end, it always comes down to what kind of system you’re building. You need to pick the parts which are right for the job.
Build Quality
The quality is great from the cover over the heatsink and everything else. You can’t fault Supermicro anything here. The shroud which holds the fan is sturdier than one might think which is great. After all, we wouldn’t end up with extra noise from a flappy piece of metal. The baseplate has full coverage of the CPU which explains why it cools so well.
The only small downside to this cooler is the 1-year warranty, which seems low to me. They could easily offer more, simply because it’s a great product that I’m sure will last.
Should I Buy One?
If noise generation isn’t an issue when your chips are running under full load, then it’s a great cooler. It does a superb job at keeping my Xeon CPUs cool. Not only that, but it also does so for a low asking price which is a bonus at any given time.

- Good cooling performance
- Solid build quality
- Low asking price
Cons
