Overclocking
Despite being a smaller motherboard, it still managed to post at all-cores 5 GHz on our i9-9900K. The end results was a boost in performance, but honestly, this isn’t an overclocking motherboard. Things did seem to get a little hot, and while it can do it, I’m more inclined to keep time at these levels limited as performance may diminish in extended loads. That being said, the motherboard will overclock great, just not the ideal overclocking board for the rather extreme i9-9900K and its relentless high-temperatures.
However, heat be damned, we got some good scores out of this board. With 3DMark boosting to 23863 from the original 23274. We saw the WPrime score smashed from its lacklustre 97.25 down to a more impressive 81.669. Still the slowest Z390 WPrime score, but a sweeping improvement regardless. The CineBench score was the most notable improvement though, with both single and multi-core performance boosting quite a lot.
