Pricing
At the time of writing this review, Supermicro’s H11SSL-i can be yours for just £395.83 or $346.99. A low price for such an awesome board, at least if you ask me.
Final Thoughts
Supermicro is no stranger to quality motherboards and it is no different for the H11SSL-i which I tested today. With it, you can utilise the latest technologies in any type of chassis thanks to the standard ATX form factor. With the ability to install up to 1TB DDR4 memory and a processor with 32 cores, you surely have a great platform for any type of server.
While you can build any type of server with the H11SSL-i as a base, there’s one thing that it’s perfect for. A high-capacity and high-performing storage server. With onboard connectors for up to 16 SATA3 drives, an M.2 slot, onboard USB 3.0 Type-A, and six PCIe slots, there surely are possibilities for such.
The six PCIe 3.0 slots, three x16 and three x8, can be used a lot of different things. Thanks to the available PCIe lanes from the EPYC chip, there won’t be issues or need to share the bandwidth between the slots. It’s also nice that Supermicro spaced out the x16 slots, allowing you to use double-height cards in all of them.
On top of all that, you can easily manage it remotely thanks to the IPMI function and support for Super Doctor 5. A truly well-done motherboard that’s affordable and which hits just the spot for a storage guy like me.
