According to a recent report by Canaccord Genuity, it turns out that Android phone users are buying iPads rather than Android tablets, like the Motorola Xoom or Samsung Tav. Although the report suggested Samsung, Amazong and Asus pose a threat to Apple’s market dominance they couldn’t ignore the fact that everone wants an iPad.
Normally once consumers are hooked up or used to a system they have a large tendency to stick to that same system across all platforms, but the iPad is certainly appealing to non Mac users. This is partly due to that a lot of consumers have been familiarised by the Apple brands, via iPods (especially iPod Touch), iPhone and now iPad. While some of you may be lucky to posses an Apple Macbook the chances are you are more likely, if you have the money, to go out and buy an iPad over what we all consider to be one of the best laptops.
The fact that Android tablets do also cost nearly as much as iPads is certainly not going to help, but it looks set for Apple to maintain a very dominant 56% share in the tablet market for this year and even without the launch of a new iPad look set to grab around 50% of that share.
Analysts have also suggested that Windows 8 tablets could do quite well when they start shipping especially in the enterprise market, as it allows for much more seamless transitions between computers – in theory, at least.
