I remember playing the first two Syberia games and being impressed by their wonderful graphics and amazing storylines, and even though adventure games are not as popular as they used to be back in the day, it’s definitely refreshing to hear that Benoît Sokal is working on the game’s third installment, Syberia 3. The game is scheduled for a December 2016 release, and it will become available on several platforms such as Microsoft Windows, OS X, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, iOS and Android. Syberia 3 has recently received a gameplay trailer that shows off the main character, Kate Walker, as well as some of the other characters and a few environments.
It’s worth pointing out that the graphics don’t look particularly impressive at this point, but we really shouldn’t start judging the game’s quality right now, as there are still quite a few months left until launch. Throughout its development, Syberia 3 has had quite a few funding problems, and even though Benoît Sokal initially wanted to use real-time 3D graphics similar to what we’ve seen in Assassin’s Creed, this was not possible due to budget constraints. The first developer diary shows that a lot of work went into the game’s graphics, which includes modern features such as depth of field and motion-capture-based animations. You can have a look at the gameplay trailer and the developer diary for Syberia 3 below.
