It has been around five years now since the System Shock Remake (formally ‘Remastered’) successfully stormed Kickstarter. However, the game has had a troubled development would be something of a colossal understatement. Want some examples? Well, there was the announcement that work on the game had been temporarily stopped due to a total change in vision. There was a huge debacle regarding the publishing rights to the game. And in something that is never overly encouraging, the developers had to consistently confirm to the community that the game was still being created!
Well, if you have been following the state of this game with more than a few fingers crossed, then we have an excellent double-whammy of news for you!
Firstly, we can confirm that we actually have something resembling a release date for the System Shock Remake for what I think is the first time ever. Now, we should note that nothing is specific, and the developers are still insistent that COVID-19 may still have a role to play here, but putting those factors to one side, they have officially confirmed that it is set for release this Summer. (Yes, I’m afraid that’s as precise as it currently gets, but it’s better than nothing!).
What’s the other aspect of the news though? Well, if you fancy seeing the game in action, then the demo has officially been released which you can download and try out now!
With the System Shock Remake set to be released on Steam, GOG.com, and the Epic Games Store, all of these should now be offering the System Shock Remake demo as available to download right now (and, of course, the option to pre-order it). If you do, therefore, want to check this out, you can visit the official store websites below:
