Take-Two CEO Supports AI, Says It Will Boost Jobs and Productivity

While some gaming companies, like Nintendo, remain skeptical about AI, most major companies in the industry have embraced it. Microsoft is integrating AI across its products, Electronic Arts considers it central to its business, and Sony believes AI will revolutionize gaming. Even industry veteran Peter Molyneux has spoken about its impact.
In an interview with GamesIndustry (thanks VGC), Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive (parent company of Rockstar Games and 2K Games), shared his optimism about AI. He believes it will increase productivity and job opportunities, despite concerns that automation may lead to layoffs.
AI Will Not Replace Jobs, Says Zelnick
Zelnick dismisses fears that AI will cause widespread job losses. He argues that terms like “artificial intelligence” and “machine learning” are misleading, as machines do not truly “learn.” Instead, he sees AI as a digital tool that will make businesses more efficient.
He said,
To the contrary, the history of digital technology is that technology increases employment, increases productivity, increases GDP and I think that’s what’s going to happen with AI.
He also predicts that the gaming industry will lead in AI innovation but warns that companies must ensure AI does not infringe on intellectual property. Protecting their own IP and respecting others’ rights is a priority for Take-Two.
In other news, Take-Two has officially confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI is set to launch this fall for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with no delays anticipated.
