Skyrim is a fantastic RPG adventure, but it’s a truly solo affair, something which the modders who created Tamriel Online aimed to fix. The original incarnation of the mod, which launched earlier this year, wasn’t ideal. It added the ability to see some other players running around, but interaction and questing was a no go, plus there were a huge pile of bugs. This is, of course, to be expected with such a mod, as it’s very ambitious and technical compared to the likes HD Cabbage Textures.
The new update for the mod brings big changes, starting with a range of bug fixes, improved stability, but also multiplayer questing. Now multiple players can enter dungeons and more together, without being kicked from the multiplayer experience, for the most part. Custom character mods work well too, so this could open the door for a new wave of Machinima videos.
It’s not perfect, but being able to fight the same enemies, explore the same places and generally share your Skyrim experience with friends is a lot of fun. Check out the video below to see it in action for yourself.
The next step is NPC synchronisation and I can’t wait to see this and any future updates in action!
