It’s not a big secret that Google Glass wasn’t a big success, but it looks like the team behind the gadget’s development is still hard at work. Now called Project Aura, the division is apparently working on no less than three new prototype gadgets, one of which is a headset without any type of screen. The audio-only device would be different from regular Bluetooth headphones or earpieces, and even though we don’t have a lot of details to share right now, it looks like the headset will work through bone conduction.
The Google Glass team was a part of the Google X lab, but Project Aura was actually moved under Google proper. As far as team leadership goes, Nest Labs CEO Tony Fadell and designer Ivy Ross will be in charge of development. It’s true that this new audio-only device does seem like the most important thing that’s currently being developed by the Aura team, but it’s also worth noting that they are working on two more devices with screens that will be aimed at businesses. Yes, Google Glass wasn’t received with open arms, but some of its design ideas might still serve as a valuable source of inspiration for other modern gadgets.
