Team Group‘s gaming series is growing with some new members. Among them is the new T-Force Cardea Zero, also sometimes referred to as Cardea Z. This is a new and slimmer version of the Cardea M.2 drive which was introduced earlier this year.
The original Cardea drive was well received, partially due to the large heatsink. M.2 drives run quite hot which can result in performance throttling. Nobody wants that, which makes a heatsink a great idea. However, the large block prevents notebook users from installing the drive, yet they’d like the performance. There was a large interest in this and Team Group went back to the drawing board to come up with a solution.
In the end, Team Group came up with a thin foil made of graphene and copper. The patented technology allows for effective heat dissipation and thereby continuous high performance.
The Team Group Cardea Zero PCIe M.2 SSD comes in two capacity options, 240GB and 480GB. The performance is rated up to 2600MB/s when reading and up to 1450MB/s when writing. The random performance figures come in at 180K IOPS reading and 150K IOPS writing.
As for the endurance rating, Team Group rates the Cardea Zero at 335TB TBW per 240GB capacity. It has an MTBF of 2 million hours and it is backed by a 3-year limited warranty.
The full specifications, including resistances and other ratings, can be found on the freshly launched product page.
Team Group didn’t announce a price at this time, but you can expect the Cardea Zero to be priced very similar to the original Cardea drive. The company didn’t reveal a date for an actual availability either, but it shouldn’t take long for it to arrive at your favourite hardware reseller.
