Team Group is announcing that the WD02 Brick Charger they had on display at Computex is finally available. Desktop USB charging hubs tend to be very boring pieces of hardware since they just sit on top of the table. However, Team Group gave the concept a more playful look by incorporating Lego compatibility. Unlike typical desktop chargers and USB hubs clad in black, the Team Group WD02 is colorful.
Aside from its playful aspect, the WD02 Brick Charger is highly functional as well. The bottom area is detachable or can store other devices such as USB drives. It is also quite powerful as a charging station, able to have an output power of 55W. Despite that power, it is quite compact and portable as well.
There are five charging ports in total with the first four supporting 5V/2.4A charging. The fifth blue USB port supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 standard. This means it supports 5V/3A, 8V/2A and 12V/1.5A charging.
For peace of mind, Team Group also embeds several safety mechanisms inside the WD02 Brick Charger. This includes over-current protection, over-voltage protection, short-circuit protection and over-temperature protection. It even passes the U.S. Department of Energy’s Level VI standard of efficiency.
