Pricing
The Team Group Vulcan 8GB 2400MHz memory kit is available in orange, red and gold varieties. All of them cost £79.99 | £79.99 | £79.99 in the UK.
Conclusions
While there is only so much you can say about a memory kit, I think Team Group’s Vulcan kit that we have here is definitely worthy of praise. Firstly, on the aesthetics as it looks fantastic and comes in a couple of absolutely cracking colours that very few memory vendors ever sell – orange and gold, in addition to the red. Secondly, it comes with a lifetime warranty and there’s no arguing with that – a lifetime warranty is a winner in anyone’s books. Next is the overclocking and quite frankly I was blown away with the fact I was able to get to 2666MHz from a stock of 2400MHz and with genuine performance gains. Typically most 2400MHz memory kits are already pushed so close to their limits that there is minimal overclocking headroom and any extra frequency normally decreases performances because timings have to be slacked so much. Finally the price – £80 for an 8GB 2400MHz kit is impressive. The only other 8GB 2400MHz kit I’ve seen that’s cheaper than that is another kit made by Team Group.
I can’t really find myself picking any negatives with this kit because like I say it just has everything going for it. If you’re interested in taking a look at some of Team Group’s size and colour combinations for the Vulcan kits then you can check them out here. It’s worth baring in mind there are some “cheaper” versions of the same capacity and frequency but that have slacker timings. These are the C11 kits while the C10 kits would be identical to the ones we’ve tested here today. However, if you really want maximum overclocking potential and the best performance we encourage you to go for the C10 kits because contrary to popular belief tighter timings actually improve real world performance more than higher frequencies and tighter timings ultimately give you more overclocking headroom as you have more timing slack to play with.
Pros
- Competitive pricing
- Great aesthetics and colour combinations
- Lifetime warranty
- Excellent overclocking potential
Cons
- 8GB density DIMMs currently not available for purchase, only 4GB
“While Team Group may not be a big name in the world of RAM and memory kits there’s certainly no reason why they shouldn’t be on this exceptional performance. The Team Group Vulcan 8GB C10 2400MHz memory kit is just an epic buy. It has got bags of performance, lots of overclocking headroom and a lifetime warranty but most importantly a highly competitive price that no other DRAM vendors seem willing to match, especially not with C10 latencies.”
