TeamGroup T-Force XTREEM 16GB 3200MHz DDR4 Memory Review

How Much Does It Cost?

It’s a bit tricky to nail down a price on this kit, as the CL14 kit seems a little rare when it comes to stock right now. However, there are a whole bunch of variants kicking around. For a 16GB kit, in a 2 x 8GB format, you’ll be looking at anything from about £80 up to £140 depending on the speed and timings, With the CL16 3200 coming in the cheapest, and the 4000 MHz CL18 leading the at the higher price. However, I think the CL14 3200 MHz kit is going to be the sweet spot most people aim for. You can check for stock and prices here and here.

Overview

I must admit, it’s become near impossible to find a bad memory kit. So long as you stick to well-known brands at least. There seems to be a kit for just about every budget, every style, every colour, and there’s no shortage of innovation when it comes to cool lighting effects. However, I think TeamGroup has done more than enough here to stand out from the crowd. They’re not the first to offer some mirror effect RGB lighting, nor the last, but they’ve still put their own spin on it and the design is absolutely fantastic.

Speed

The clear advantage here is performance. I’m all for a great looking memory kit, but what’s the point in looking amazing if they’re not going to perform great too. While they do make a faster 3600 MHz and even a 4000 MHz version of this kit, the 3200 MHz comes in both CL16 and CL14 timings. They sent us the one with better timings, and it shows in the performance figures. Overclocking netted a few small gains, and some small losses in performance, so I recommend keeping those tight timings vs higher speeds here.

Build Quality

Absolutely fantastic quality overall. The DIMMS feel heavy and robust, and there’s a lot of raw materials here. There’s a good balance between the aluminium heatsink and that stunning RGB mirror surface, ensuring that aesthetics and performance never compromise each other. I like that they include a microfiber cloth in the box too. However, I would like to see them reduce their waste plastic use on the packaging.

Should I Buy Them?

I think this is a great memory kit, and while I haven’t tested the other version of it, I’m confident they’ll be pretty fantastic too. The TeamGroup T-Force XTREEM ARGB DDR4 Gaming Memory offers a unique design, stunning ARGB lighting effects, and really fantastic performance at a competitive price. Highly recommended.
