TeamGroup Z540 M.2 PCIe SSD & DARK AirFlow I SSD Cooler Review

The box says this drive is rated for up 12400 MB/s read and 11800 MB/s write, and it’s certainly delivering on that promise. It’s only a fraction short on the read in our first test, and actually a little faster on the write than expected.

IOPS are looking good, and I was expecting around 250,000 on the Q32T1, and it’s again pretty much where its should be for a drive of this class.

In this test, we copy 50GB of data as 6 files in one 1 folder. It saw a transfer speed of around 3500 MB/s, which is pretty good given its having to read and write to its self.

64MB, 327 files, 37 folders. Obviously much slower here, as the drive can’t get to full speed before the smaller files are transferred and it has to move onto the next.

You can see this in action with ATTO, as it tests smaller files, increasing in size, and the drive doesn’t get up to full speed until around 4MB files, but is otherwise very consistent above that.

For Anvil, we see a very high overall score, but also excellent response times throughout all of the testing.

AS SSD showed read and write speeds of 9000-10000 MB/s, this test is usually a bit lower than the CDM test, so this is what we expected, but again, very good access times.

And again, a strong score for the IOPS, showing this to be an extremely fast SSD that can handle a lot of operations.

For loading a typical ISO, program or game, you can expect extremely responsive performance, not that we expected anything else at this point.

For capturing high resolution 5K Red video footage, again, absolutely no issues, if anything this drive will capture multiple streams of ultra-high-resolution video data simultaneously.

In our compression test, there was a pretty big drop off in the write speeds around 40%, likely due to the drive performing faster than the CPU could keep up with, but overall read speeds were pretty consistent.

As you might expect, it scored extremely high in Endwalker, with very short loading times in all scenes.

And again, we see very fast loading times and access times for various gaming tests, all of which will mean your games will feel much more responsive when loading assets.

And most impressive of all is the temperature, this drive would cruise past 100c without a heatsink, but with the epic heatsink they gave us, it didn’t even pass 47c, even after relentlessly benchmarking it all day!
