Tearing Apart the OnePlus 2 Reveals a Surprisingly Repairable Design

Even though the OnePlus 2 can only be purchased after receiving an invite code right now, it’s still quite a remarkable smartphone for a number of reasons. First off, it was designed to compete with the world’s most powerful flagship smartphones, which means that it boasts some beefy specs. Then there’s its minimalistic component design, which allows it to be considerably more repairable when compared to its competitors. The OnePlus 2 was recently tore apart by iFixit, and it looks like its components were put together following a simple modular layout that allows various parts to be swapped without too much effort.
In the event of a hardware failure, you’re probably not going to tear down your smartphone and try to fix it yourself, but it’s definitely good to know that it can probably be repaired by a professional without too many complications. Just like its predecessor, the OnePlus 2 is powered by a brightly colored orange battery, while its display parts are fused together thus making them quite pricey to replace. Still, the new gadget is obviously taking steps in the right direction when it comes to reliability. Too bad that its makers decided to limit its availability.
