Tekken 7 Leak Was Real, Powered by Unreal Engine 4

A leaked IGN new video made its way online this week when it was published by AOL.com ahead of the official announcement, revealing that it was powered by Unreal Engine 4. Now it looks like the leak was legit after the game was officially revealed at the Evo 2014 Fighting Game Tournament in Las Vegas on Sunday evening.

The game still focuses around the Mashima family, in keeping with the original time lines and back stories for the multitude of characters old and new battling through the King of the Iron Fist Tournament.

The new trailer suggests that this could be the final confrontation for the Mashimas, given that it ends with the words “Final Battle”, but that remains to be seen.

“With Unreal Engine 4, we could rapidly achieve visual quality expected on next-gen platform and go beyond it,” said Harada. “Not only is Unreal Engine 4 powerful and easy to use, but it allows us to immediately bring Tekken 7 to any platform we desire.”

The Tekken franchise has dropped out of favour in recent years, with some of the newer games being fairly sub-par in my opinion, especially when compared to rival offerings from Soul Calibur, Mortal Kombat and Injustice, so it’ll be great to see if they can return to form with Tekken 7.
