TekRepublic TH Pro Headset Review

So over all then a fairly mixed result from this headset, while there were some features I liked, such as the fact that its general audio reproduction is crystal clear, the over powering volume issue really makes enjoyable playback levels problematic, I tried using this to record some audio in Audacity, but with the playback levels being completely un-representative of the actual recorded audio it was all but a waste of time.  That being said it is a great microphone for general gaming use and this is afterall a gaming headset, so again its a pros and cons situation for the microphone.

The same can be said for the  build quality, the headband has a really nice finish to it and just the right amount of padding, which makes it really comfortable to wear and its light weight really helps for those long gaming sessions.  The plastics and general materials used for the rest of the sets construction on the other hand do leave a lot to be desired, leave the headset feeling cheaper than it should over all.

The styling isn’t too bad, while its not to my tastes its practical and has a clean layout and good ergonomics, but since I don’t really have to look at the style when I’m wearing the set I’m not particularly fussed one was or the other.  At this price range there really are better looking products on the market and dare I say it better performing too.

Had the volume on this set not been so over powering and the plastics on the ear piece been of a better quality then this headset could have earn’t our gamers choice award.  While it may be let down by a few features, its performance under the right conditions has the potential to be fantastic, so in the end I don’t think its really worth its current price range of around £50, but I do think this can be a great deal for those looking for a budget head set, should you be able to find yourself a set for around the £30 price point.

So it's no wonder I write about tech and test the latest hardware while I enjoy my hobbies!
