Tenda also provides a set of drivers and software to configure and monitor your powerline setup. The software isn’t very advanced, but it gives you all the features you could want. The name of each device can be changed to suit your setup and be used to easy identify the location of each adapter plug you’re using. It also shows the mac address for each device in case you need to configure them in other parts of your network.
You can also configure the built-in QoS protocol through the software and get a prioritizing on just the right type of traffic for your usage needs. It also shows the Tx and Rx rates on the pure connection, where the local adapter is the one connected directly to your PC and the remotes are the paired devices.
We can see here that the pure connection is rated way better than the transfer results we got. This is mainly due to the fact that a transfer test depends on more than just the raw bandwidth. With a direct connection of 850 Mbit/s in co-location, the Tenda kit is very close to the Gigabit speeds. Maybe Tenda is even able to improve with future firmware updates, the software does allow for new ones to be uploaded.
