A Closer Look

With an aluminium and SECC construction, the build quality is second to none. With the system measuring in at ~26cm x ~19cm x 13cm, it is naturally taller than the 2-bay unit (no prizes for realising that) and in fact it’s not that much heavier either with no drives installed.

Opening up the door, we can see that there is a cut out through which the LCD display can be viewed and opening the door also allows access to the OSD controls.

Setting the TS432U apart from the other models in the family is the LCD display through which users can view and configure RAID arrays alongside the switches on the back which we will see shortly.

Turning the unit around, cooling capability has been increased from one to two 60mm fans and down the left hand side of the unit are more grills for additional ventilation.

Below the fans we find another way of setting up the systems RAID array. A set of three DIP switches allow for a more physical approach to setting up a RAID array. To the left of these is a native USB3.0 connection as well as eSATA although I will stress that using eSATA requires a board with a SATA multiplier controller if using the disks as separate drives.

Up on the top of the system is a set of LEDs for power and drive status which light up blue and flash in a more purple outfit during activity.
