Tesla Announce New Company Chair To Replace Elon Musk

Tesla Announce New Company Chair To Replace Elon Musk

Since the Summer, it’s been a bit of a weird few months for the Tesla. Following Elon Musk’s rather ill-advised Twitter post saying he was taking the company private the SEC (Security Exchange Committee) sought to remove him from an executive role in the company. This was largely based on the fact of the manner in which he announced it.

Fortunately, a deal was reached between the two, but not without consequences. The agreement required Elon Musk to step down as the company chair for at least 3 years and also pay a $20m fine.

After months of speculation as to who the new company chair would be, in a report via the BBC, Tesla has finally name and confirmed the appointment of Robyn Denholm.

Who Is She?

Robyn Denholm currently acts as the Finance head for the Australian telecoms firm Telstra. She will have to serve a 6-months notice period before she takes on the role at Tesla. Although she is currently a non-executive member of the board and as such, does have good knowledge of the company.

In a statement, Tesla has said: “To ensure a smooth transition during the remainder of Robyn’s time at Telstra (TLSYY). Elon will be a resource to Robyn and provide any support that she requests in her role as chair.”

While it sounds like a nice job she has to do much more than just oversee the car company. Part of the agreement with the SEC was that the new company chair would be required to ensure that Elon Musk behaves himself on social media in regards to the car manufacturer. A role I personally wouldn’t relish. What about you?
